Great to chat to you Mann about your book, “A Look into Black Independent Filmmaking” in Kindle format, let’s start with sharing something interesting about yourself to our readers.

MR: My favorite thing to do is create stories and turn them into movies, I find that writing is the most important part of any creation.  I’m really loving the Vegan lifestyle along with working out.

PeB: Can you provide a brief background on your writing career?

MR: Started writing poems with my mother when I was in the 4th grade, which turned into rap songs all the way up to my first movie years later.

PeB: Have you always wanted to be a writer?

MR: No, I hated writing and reading throughout school. Once I got older and realized that all the things that either teach or entertain us comes from writing, a talent was revieled.

PeB: What three words describe your book?

MR: Overdue, Educational, DEDACATED

PeB: What inspired you to write your book?

MR: When I looked back on all the self-taught hours that I invested in learning to be the best filmmaker that I can be, I recalled not seeing any information on the subject geared towards Black filmmakers.

PeB: Can you tell our readers about the book?

MR: I decided to include everything that I have learned about filmmaking via School, hands on experience and extensive research into this book. I cover everything from writing, location scouting, casting, gear, legal and distribution. I also include the extra obstacles that Black filmmakers face in during this entire process and how to maneuver to success.

PeB: How do you come up with the title to your book?

MR: The title describes my journey

PeB: What was the highlights of writing this book?

The highlights were reliving the steps that I took and looking at all the work was put in to my career and relizing that use most of the things in the book every day.

PeB: Are you working on anything at the present you would like to share with your readers about?

MR: On a daily basis I write scripts, produce edit and shoot movies and continuously document mt processes for later content.

PeB: What advice would you give to a new writer, someone just starting out?

MR: The best part about writing this book was realizing that I have the ability to help people that look like me.
