You can feel the characters emotions, feel their pain, and the snippets of backstory interspersed throughout allow for you to understand the whole character as the story goes on. The mafia aspect of it is great! And I love Alessio and Ayla’s characters. Alessio transforms from this cold-hearted killer to opening his heart to Ayla, unaware of her truth; Ayla is scared and has lived in fear for most of her life but when she’s with Alessio, she’s at peace. Their relationship is a beautiful disaster and imperfectly perfect.
